Local Takoyaki is in Gunja, not Seongsu. It is three subway stops from Seongsu Station with one transfer.
Take Line 2 one stop from Seongsu Station to Konkuk Univ. Station. Transfer to Line 7 and ride two stops to Gunja.
From northern Seongsu, you can walk along the Songjeong Embankment or cycle on the adjacent Jungnangcheon bike path. The full embankment walkway is about 4.7–4.9 km long and is not a shortcut to the shop.
Before Local Takoyaki opened in Gunja, its founder spent three months helping to launch a café in Seongsu.

I finally got takeaway from Local Takoyaki in Gunja after passing the shop and being tempted by the savory smell so many times. Eating in is nice too, but this time I wanted to enjoy the takoyaki at home. After one bite, I understood why it was popular. The outside was crisp, the inside was moist and soft, and the pieces of octopus were large and substantial. Both the original and the spicy Cheongyang chili takoyaki were excellent. I did not expect the flavor without sauce to be this good. A wait formed right after I ordered. Next time, I want to eat at the shop. 🐙🥢

On my last visit every seat was taken and takeaway was unavailable, so I had to leave. This time I came right when the shop opened for takeaway. It was really good. The octopus was large, pleasantly chewy, and not fishy at all. I ordered the original this time and want to try another flavor next time. This is the place I would recommend in Gunja.

I have been many times, and this is one of my favorite bars in Gunja. Order as soon as you go in—a draft beer and takoyaki are a good start. The Japanese-style takoyaki uses carbonated batter and is cooked to order, so it takes time and care. The octopus is chewy, the inside is moist, and the outside is browned. I like the negi and Buldak flavors, and the original comes with plenty of bonito flakes. Then there is the winter oden: a lightly aromatic broth in a manageable portion. Try it before the weather gets warm. It is a good choice with a friend or for a beer alone after work. Go try Local Takoyaki—you won’t regret it. 😋😋
